About the GSPI

Launched in 2028 by the Swiss Foreign Affairs and the University of Geneva, the Geneva Science-Policy Interface (GSPI) is a unique boundary organisation that brings together scientific institutions and multilateral actors, enabling science to contribute more effectively to global governance processes across the International Geneva ecosystem.

As we expand partnerships with UN agencies and strengthen academic capacities to engage with the multilateral system, we aim to elevate our professional standing, visibility, and contribution as a trusted, neutral knowledge broker.

The Role

This is a strategic, transversal, and relational position, ideal for a professional who thrives at the intersection of science, policy, and communications. You will:

  • Lead communications and positioning – Develop and implement GSPI’s communication strategy, articulate clear narratives around science-policy engagement, oversee and deliver content production across digital and institutional channels.
  • Support projects and internal strategy – Translate complex science-policy projects into accessible insights for different audiences, advise on messaging and engagement, and build internal communication capacity.
  • Advance knowledge and thought leadership – Identify emerging trends, develop opinion pieces, framing papers, and knowledge products that strengthen the GSPI’s intellectual positioning.
  • Foster strategic partnerships and community relations – Engage with UN organisations, academic partners, and donor communities to amplify the GSPI’s impact.
  • Curate events and dialogues – Contribute to the design, organisation, and facilitation of workshops, panels, and policy dialogues, ensuring outcomes feed into broader communication and engagement strategies.

This role requires intellectual agility, political astuteness, and the ability to navigate complex, high-level environments. While no candidate is expected to have all competencies from day one, we welcome applicants who are motivated to grow and excel in a multifaceted role.

Qualifications

  • Education: Advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in international relations, political science, communications, multilateral governance, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 5-7 years in communication or stakeholder engagement in international contexts.
    • Experience engaging with scientific or academic institutions and producing content on science-policy issues.
    • Desirable: advocacy, partnerships, campaign experience, multimedia content creation, social media management, fundraising, impact measurement of GSPI’s activities for reporting purposes.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Deep understanding of multilateral systems, the Geneva ecosystem, and science-policy dynamics.
    • Outstaning written and oral communication skills in English and French.
    • Ability to translate complex interdisciplinary projects into compelling narratives.
  • Personal Qualities: Analytical, curious, reliable, collaborative, adaptable and passionate about strengthening science-policy interfaces.

Why join the GSPI?

You will play a pivotal role in shaping how the GSPI supports knowledge brokering around international policy. This is an opportunity to work at the heart of Geneva’s science-policy ecosystem, engage with leading institutions, and contribute to the professionalisation of a fast-evolving field.
